Further analysis needs to be offered on the specific impacts of LEED standards on energy use in Hawaii, as the current plan references a national average (which is very different due to heating/cooling loads, etc)
ReplyDeleteAlso, LEED standards bring in a myriad of other requirements that, though worthwhile, are likely outside the scope of an energy sustainability plan.
All said though, creating more example buildings, such as a library that uses extensive daylighting and natural ventilation, or an office building that aggressively reduces it's wastewater output, would be of high value in facilitating our long-term energy sustainability goals.
